A Fresh Future for Morningside Central
Chin Hong Investments is proud to share plans for the long-awaited redevelopment of Morningside Central, with construction scheduled to begin in 2026.
This $30 million investment has been shaped with the local community in mind and will transform Morningside Central into a modern, accessible and flood-resilient neighbourhood centre — designed to better support everyday life for locals, workers and visitors.
For many years, the community has been waiting for this renewal. This project is about creating a centre that continues to serve Morningside today, while being ready for the future.

Designed for Local Life
The redeveloped Morningside Central will make it easier and more enjoyable for locals to shop, meet and access essential services close to home.
Key community benefits include:
- Safer, more accessible pathways throughout the centre
- Lift and elevator access for improved mobility
- A more intuitive layout that’s easier to navigate
- Improved streetscapes along Wynnum Road and Junction Road
- A centre designed to be flood-resilient, supporting long-term reliability
Everything has been planned to support live local, shop local living.
More Parking, Easier Access
Parking and access have been a major focus of the redevelopment.
The project will deliver:
- A new suspended, flood-immune car park
- Approximately 300 car parking spaces
- More direct-to-boot parking for grocery shopping
- Improved pedestrian connections between parking areas and shops
This means less stress, better flow and more convenience for everyday visits.

Woolworths Staying Open for the Community
A refreshed and expanded Woolworths will be delivered as part of the redevelopment — and importantly, Woolworths will remain open throughout construction.
This ensures the community continues to have easy access to essential grocery shopping during the works.
Additional improvements will include:
- Updated trolley bays
- Improved service and loading areas
- Better convenience for customers and staff
Supporting Local Businesses
Chin Hong Investments is committed to supporting existing tenants throughout the staged redevelopment.
During construction:
- Chempro Chemist will relocate to a nearby interim location
- Morningside Central News will resize its store
The following much-loved local businesses will continue trading in their current locations during Stage One:
- Leisa’s Café
- Koko Sushi
- Smiling Dental
- Morningside Family Medical Centre
- Sullivan Nicolaides
New Shops and Services for the Neighbourhood
When complete, the redeveloped centre will welcome:
- 17 new retail shops
- New services and employment opportunities
- Greater choice and diversity for the local community
An elevated commercial office space will also be introduced, supporting local jobs and activity.

A Long-Term Commitment to Morningside
This redevelopment reflects Chin Hong Investments’ long-term commitment to the Morningside community.
By investing in accessibility, resilience, convenience and local business, the project will refresh the shopping experience while strengthening Morningside Central’s role as a true community hub — a place locals can rely on, now and into the future.
